A Training Program Designed to Bridge the Communication Gap Between Teachers and School Administration
In the complex ecosystem of a school, effective communication between teachers and administration is crucial for ensuring that curriculum and procedures align with educational goals. However, a significant communication gap often exists between these two groups, leading to misunderstandings and missed opportunities for collaboration. This gap can create a disconnect between the curriculum being implemented and the vision that leadership has for the school, ultimately impacting the quality of education that students receive.
The primary problem of practice in this communication gap is the lack of a clear and consistent process for teachers to engage with leadership on important topics related to curriculum and procedures. Without adequate training and a defined pathway, teachers may feel hesitant or uncertain about how to voice their concerns or suggestions, leading to a breakdown in communication.
To address this issue, I propose the development of a clear and concise policy that outlines the steps teachers can take to promote engagement with leadership. This policy would serve as a guide, ensuring that teachers know how to effectively communicate their insights and concerns, and that leadership is prepared to listen and respond appropriately. By establishing a formal process, we can create a more collaborative environment where teachers and administrators work together to enhance the educational experience.
To evaluate the effectiveness of a training program aimed at enhancing communication between teachers and administrators, I plan to use Brinkerhoff’s Success Case Method (SCM). SCM is a powerful evaluation approach that focuses on identifying and analyzing the most successful and least successful cases within a program. By applying SCM, I can assess how well the training program equips teachers and administrators with the skills and strategies needed to develop best practices for communication and engagement regarding curriculum and procedures.
Through SCM, I can identify what works well and what needs improvement, ensuring that the training program leads to meaningful, sustainable changes in how teachers and administrators collaborate.
